If you're looking for a way to add flowers to a small or large space and retain some extra style in the process, vintage or retro looks are for you. I like to use all rusty or weathered items like wooden barrels, baskets, old sinks, old bedsteads and of course old milk jugs and doors. These are great ways to create a unique look you won't find in any other garden but fall in love with seeing on your own.

Where Can I Find Vintage Items in the Garden?

If you don't already have old items on hand, you should start looking! I love going to yard sales, estate sales, and flea markets. Sometimes you can find items that also fit the vintage style at a local thrift store.

Of course, going out and shopping isn't always easy right now, so I like to find things online whenever I get the chance. In this case, Etsy is the place to shop. There are always people selling updated second-hand items or their own vintage collections. Here are a few of my current favourites.

Antique Wire Frame Chair With Antique Plate

This wooden fence is vintage made with a few antique pieces. The wire frame chair has no cushions but instead has a beautiful planter filled with light pink flowers and greenery. The naturally growing decking surrounding the chair adds to the appeal of this look. Above the chair on the fence are a few simple pink and green themed antique plates and signs.

An old sewing table is easily turned into a beautiful planter. Add a basket of flower pots under the table on a low shelf. Above the desk, a piece of reclaimed wood is the perfect place to place a simple wooden window planter filled with flowing purple and white flowers and lush greenery.

Vintage Bucket Garden on Steps

I love how this gardener decorates his steps with simple pots made from old items. On the top step, they created a fun vintage-style fairy garden using a broken terracotta pot. The second step includes a cute little fairy garden banner and an antique bucket with beautiful purple flowers. On the lower step is an old decorative planter with an ongoing fairy garden style of purple and white flowers alongside white pebbles.

Sometimes all you need is a few old fruit boxes, a small ladder and some antique flower pots to create an old garden. This is great for a small space where it is necessary to stack your planters to keep things covered. You can still create a stunning garden with just a few items and some of your favorite succulents or greens.
